With this application process, it is possible to e.g. decorate pens with multi-coloured prints in a single, one-step process.
The pattern printed on the base layer of the hot stamping foil is transferred to the substrate by heat and pressure, in its original form. Apart from realising the special texture of the direct print on the surface of the product, it also becomes possible to express complex multi-coloured and fine prints which are traditionally difficult to align with standard printing technologies.
Multi-coloured foil that has been created with gravure printing is suitable for printing pictures and patterns as well as gradations in line with the CMYK colour model (4-colour specification). By combining aluminium vacuum vapour-deposition and etching techniques, it is also possible to create a metallic lustre on particular parts of the surface.
